What CoIsland is

CoIsland is an app for Macs with Apple Silicon on macOS 14 or later; it does not run on Intel Macs. It watches the tools you work with through connectors (Gmail, your Mac’s Calendar, Dock badges, Apple Mail, GitHub, Vercel, GitLab, Cloudflare, Render, Docker, Local dev (your Mac’s ports and processes), Jira, Linear, Confluence, Asana, ClickUp, Todoist, Notion, Shortcut, Airtable, Reminders, Sentry, PagerDuty, Datadog, New Relic, Langfuse, Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, PostHog, Supabase, PostgreSQL, MySQL, ClickHouse, HTTP / JSON, RSS / Atom, status pages, shell commands and Stripe today), shows what changed as alerts in an island on your Mac, and can hand an alert to an AI coding agent you have installed. It runs on your Mac: we run no server for it and you need no CoIsland account. The privacy policy says what it stores and which servers it contacts.

Your accounts, tokens and monitors

You connect CoIsland with your own credentials. You are responsible for:

Read-only by design

CoIsland’s monitors only read, with one exception you choose: a Shell command monitor runs the command you wrote, as you, on your Mac, and what it does is what that command does. A Snowflake or Databricks monitor must start with SELECT, WITH or SHOW, and CoIsland refuses to run one that does not; on Databricks it also refuses SQL that uses a word that writes, such as INSERT or DROP, or holds a second statement. GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Linear, Sentry, PagerDuty and Vercel monitors, and Databricks’ job, pipeline and alert monitors, only search and read. A Gmail monitor opens your mail read-only: it searches and reads without marking anything read, and never sends, moves or deletes an email. A Calendar monitor reads your events and never changes them. A Reminders monitor never completes or changes a reminder, a Dock badges monitor reads only the number on an app’s icon, and an Apple Mail monitor reads Mail while it is open without marking anything read, sending, moving or deleting a message. A Docker monitor reads Docker on your Mac over its local socket, with GET requests only, and never starts or stops a container. A Local dev monitor reads your Mac’s port table and process list, and checks only whether a port or address answers; it never stops or signals a process. GitLab, Cloudflare, Render, Asana, ClickUp, Todoist, Notion, Shortcut, Airtable, Datadog, New Relic, Langfuse, dbt, Stripe, HTTP / JSON, RSS / Atom and status page monitors only search and read. A PostHog monitor runs HogQL that starts with SELECT or WITH, a Supabase monitor runs its SQL as Supabase’s read-only role, and a PostgreSQL or MySQL monitor runs one SELECT, WITH or SHOW statement at a time, in a read-only transaction that is rolled back. A ClickHouse monitor runs one SELECT, WITH or SHOW statement sent with ClickHouse’s readonly=1 setting, or a SELECT CoIsland writes on the system tables.

What a monitor can reach is still decided by the token, key, password or role you give it, so give it read-only access where the service offers it. A Shell command monitor has no such limit: write only commands you trust, and remember they run each time the monitor checks. A Gmail app password cannot be limited to reading: it opens your whole mailbox, which CoIsland only reads.

AI agents

When you hand an alert to Claude Code, Codex or Cortex Code, CoIsland starts that agent’s own command-line tool, which you installed, on your Mac. The agent is third-party software made by Anthropic, OpenAI or Snowflake. It acts under your account with that company and under that company’s terms, and what you share with it goes to that company.

CoIsland starts Claude Code and Codex in their auto modes, where the agent runs what its maker’s tool judges safe and asks you for the rest, and Cortex Code in its default mode, where it asks before potentially dangerous actions. CoIsland also tells each agent to ask you before anything destructive or hard to undo, and never to acknowledge or resolve an alert. You choose whether to hand an alert to an agent, and you can change its mode from inside its session. You are responsible for the actions it takes on your behalf and for their results. We do not control what an agent says or does.

No warranty, and the limits of our liability

CoIsland is provided as is, without any warranty. We work to keep it reliable, but we do not promise that it will catch every change, raise every alert on time, or run without errors. Do not rely on it as your only way to learn about an outage, a security alert or a deadline.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from using CoIsland or from relying on it: a missed or late alert, lost data, lost profits, costs on your accounts, or the results of an action you approved for an agent. Some places do not allow these limits, and there they apply only as far as the law allows.
