Monitor Docker containers from your Mac
Know when a container on your Mac crashes, runs out of memory or can't start. The alert carries its last 30 log lines, and an agent you hand it to gets them too.
What CoIsland watches in Docker
Each monitor kind brings its own query and its own card in the island.
-
Containers down
A container crashes, is killed for running out of memory, keeps restarting, turns unhealthy or can't start. A clean stop stays quiet.
-
Containers over a limit
A container uses more memory or CPU than the limit you set. It alerts when it crosses, and again only after it drops back.
How to monitor Docker containers on your Mac
A container that dies in the background is easy to miss until a page stops loading. A Docker monitor checks every minute, says which container went down and why, and brings what it printed last.
-- name: My app's containers
-- kind: docker.down
-- connector: docker
-- every: 1m
project:my-app
name: takes a container’s name or a glob like name:web-*, project: a Compose project, and image: an image, with or without its tag. Connect Docker covers the socket, both kinds and the limits you can set. Local dev watches the ports and processes beside your containers, and all connectors share one page.
Connect it in three steps
-
Add a Docker connector. It needs only a name, and finds Docker Desktop, OrbStack, Colima, Rancher Desktop or Podman by itself.
-
Pick a monitor kind and the containers it watches, by name or Compose project. name:* watches every one.
-
Containers down also comes as a recommended monitor, added in one click. Each monitor checks every minute unless you change it.
Built for Docker
- Read only. Every request to Docker is a GET, and CoIsland never starts or stops a container.
- No token and nothing to install. It reads Docker through its socket on this Mac.
- A crash alerts once, with the container's last 30 log lines. A clean docker stop or quitting Docker stays quiet.
- When Docker isn't running, the card says so and nothing alerts. Nothing is lost when it comes back.
Then hand it to an agent
A click on the alert opens the agent in a terminal under it, with the whole alert as its first message.

Docker questions
Which Docker apps does it work with?
Docker Desktop, OrbStack, Colima, Rancher Desktop and Podman. CoIsland finds their socket by itself. If yours lives somewhere else, give its path in the connector's Socket field.
Does stopping a container raise an alert?
Not when it exits 0, 130, 137 or 143, the codes docker stop and quitting Docker leave. A program that exits with its own error code when told to stop still alerts, and so do a crash, an out-of-memory kill or a failed start, once each.
What does an agent get when I hand it a crash?
The whole alert as its first message, the container's last 30 log lines included. Claude Code, Codex and Cortex Code all get the same.
Does it watch a remote Docker host or Kubernetes?
No. It reads Docker on this Mac only, and it only reads. It never starts, stops or changes a container.
Other connectors
-
Gmail
Hear about the emails that matter, not every email. Unread mail, chosen senders, labels, Drive comments and invitations reach an island on your Mac, and nothing is marked read.
-
Calendar
The calendars Calendar.app already shows (iCloud, Google, Exchange, subscriptions), or a calendar's secret ICS feed, in an island on your Mac. A countdown to your next meeting, a warning before it starts with one click to join, and news of invitations and changes.
-
Dock badges
One watch over every app that badges its Dock icon. Slack, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Mail, Messages, Discord, WhatsApp or any other app tells the island when its count goes up, with no account or token for any of them.
-
Apple Mail
Every account Mail already has, iCloud, Exchange, Gmail or any IMAP, in an island on your Mac. New unread mail in your inboxes, or only from the people and domains you pick, with no password given to CoIsland.
-
GitHub
Monitor GitHub for what needs you, not everything that moves. Reviews, failed Actions runs, releases and security alerts, on github.com or GitHub Enterprise.
-
Vercel
Watch Vercel deployments, stuck builds and project domains. A failed build reaches an island on your Mac with its error, and the alert shows the failing step and the end of the build log.
-

Watch GitLab on gitlab.com or a self-managed instance. A review request, a failed pipeline or a new to-do reaches an island on your Mac, and the alert shows the merge request with its description and comments, or the jobs that failed.
-
Cloudflare
Watch Cloudflare Pages deployments, Worker errors and your zones. A failed build reaches an island on your Mac with its failing step, and the alert shows the end of the build log.
-
Render
Watch the deploys of your Render services and whether they are suspended. A failed deploy reaches an island on your Mac with its commit, and a suspended service says who suspended it.
-
Local dev
See when two programs listen on the same port, a local server stops answering, or a process takes more memory or CPU than it should. Everything is read on this Mac, and nothing is sent anywhere.
