How to monitor an endpoint from your Mac’s notch

A health endpoint, a queue depth, a public API’s list, a product page: a CoIsland monitor reads the address on its own schedule and speaks up only about what changed.

Connect it in three steps

Add an HTTP / JSON connector. Public addresses need nothing more; for an API with a key, give its site, the header and the key.
Pick a monitor kind, give the address and, for JSON, the path. Load Sample previews what the path reaches as you type it.
Test runs it once; choose how often it checks and when it alerts.

Read only: every request is a GET, and an answer over 5 MB is not read.
A key goes only to the site it was given for, never to another address.

HTTP / JSON questions

How do I get notified when a JSON API value changes?

Add an HTTP / JSON connector, then a JSON value monitor with the address and the path, like $.status. The first check records the value; each different value after that opens the notch with the old and the new one.

Can it alert when a number crosses a threshold?

Yes. Pick Goes above or Goes below and give the number. It alerts once when the value crosses, stays quiet while it stays there, and alerts again only after it came back.

Can it send POST requests or log in?

No. It only sends GET, with an optional key in a header (a bearer token, an API key header, or a user and password) that goes only to the connector's site.
